Asheville BARNAROO was started by Andrew Scotchie and friends in 2009, when the underagers couldn't get into Bonnaroo. Since then, the festival has grown up and continues to evolve musically. It's purpose is to showcase, promote and celebrate local and regional singer songwriters and bands in the rock & roll, hard rock, folk, americana, bluegrass and funk genres.

Barnaroo's goal is to give back to the youth music community through Asheville Music School. The Festival is an ALL WEEKEND event with optional camping.

About Asheville Music School
Asheville Music School is a nonprofit community school for anyone who wishes to study music. They’ve been making music since 1996, and now have over 400 students with 35 instructors teaching music lessons and classes every week. They are currently enrolling students from beginner to advanced skill levels for private music lessons. Students range from age four to young adult and those well into retirement. AVL BARNAROO will feature a silent auction to benefit AMS and will donate a portion of festival sales to the non-profit.
